Monday, October 18, 2004. The Windemere Cup Regatta, held on Opening Day, is a 2000 meter sprint race through the Montlake Cut. It is hosted by the Seattle Yacht Club. There are only a select few events offered to Masters rowers, and typically only one or two (Masters) boats from our club will be invited to participate. The events are generally Mixed Quad, Mixed 8+, M8+ or W8+.

What needs to be done now is to gather all the names of rowers who are considering participating in Opening Day. We will then submit these names to the SYC regatta organizing committee along with our entry request. They will then tell us, at a later date, what event(s) we have been invited to participate in. At that point, Coach Marcy Chartier, who will be the organizing coach for this regatta, will set lineups. The goal is, of course, to put together the fastest boat(s) possible from our club, and to WIN the race.

Marcy will be in charge of deciding what methods she will use to determine who will be selected for the crew(s). This may include erg testing or seat racing at her discretion. Practices will be determined at a later date to accommodate as many rowers as possible, but your flexibility will be important. Remember, it will be a limited number of practices leading up to this very prestigious event.

We encourage anyone interested to submit there information now, and recommend that you participate in a winter conditioning class or continue to build your fitness independently over the winter.

Opening Day will be held next year on May 7th.
