CINCINNATI--Sammamish Rowing Association won the gold medal in junior women's quadruple sculls and the silver in the junior women's double sculls on Sunday at the USRowing National Youth Invitational Championships on Harsha Lake in Cincinnati, Ohio. The junior national championships included over 1,100 rowers from 100 high schools and clubs from across the nation. Sammamish qualified in 6 events by finishing among the top two places at the NW Junior Regional Championships this May in Vancouver, WA. Sammamish sent 3 crews to compete in the 2,000 meter race, the junior women's quadruple and double sculls and the junior men's quadruple sculls. The junior women's quadruple sculls won the event with a time of 7:52.67 followed by Seattle's Greenlake Crew with a time of 8:04.03. The junior women's double sculls won the silver medal and the junior men placed 4th in the grand final race. This is the first time Sammamish juniors have won at the Junior National Championships. The Sammamish junior boats were comprised of rowers from across the eastside. Click here for photo gallery.
